Position: Design & Certification Engineer
Location: Bournemouth OR Farnborough, with hybrid working options possible
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 Hours per weekWe have an excellent opportunity for a Certification Engineer to join our dynamic Design Office at Gama Aviation (Engineering) Ltd, based at either our Bournemouth or Farnborough facility, hybrid working options possible.You will be working in Gama’s Design Team to produce compliance & certification documentation for aircraft modifications and repairs.Gama’s Design Office has a large scope of approval, you can expect to be working on any of the following aircraft types:• CS-22 – Sailpanes and Powered Sailplanes• CS-23 – Normal, Utility, Aerobatic and Commuter Aeroplanes• CS-25 – Large Aeroplanes• CS-27 – Small Rotorcraft• CS-29 – Large Rotorcraft• Various Military Aeroplanes and Rotorcraft.The Design Office holds the following regulatory approvals:• Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Part 21J Design Organisation Approval (DOA)• Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) A8-21 BCAR Design Organisation Approval• Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS)

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks relating to certification & technical documentation:

Preparation of technical documentation using MS Office software.
Create design data packages required to meet both regulatory and customer requirements.
Produce modification / repair documentation including but not limited to:

- Change Classifications- Certification Plans- Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness- Test Plans & Reports- Equipment Assessments

Addressing in-service difficulty reports & design queries after completion of a design.
Witnessing of environmental and certification testing.
Assisting with customer quotations where requested.
Liaison with customers to address certification requirements / design queries.
Checking drawings and / or documents (DOE).
Ensuring that all design procedures are adhered to.
Adhering to project timescales / time management of own projects.
Maintaining an awareness of current aerospace regulations and procedures.
Continued professional development with a view to achieving CVE status: attending training courses, seminars, etc.
Represents the DOA to customers and Authorities within the certification area of expertise.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:

Engineering apprenticeship or degree or equivalent
Able to demonstrate technical competence through practical experience in similar roles
Team player with the ability to work effectively under pressure on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to communicate and negotiate internally and externally at all levels.
Excellent communication skill both written and verbal.
A reliable person capable of producing high quality wiring diagrams documentation.
Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and being able to fulfil the role required by the team even when that role may vary from project to project.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to assess evidence and develop conclusions based on that evidence in a logical and structured fashion.
